Today,
we started the first of many classes in the Falcultad de Traduccion y
Documentacion, visited a convent of the Ursuline sisters. And, to end the day,
we tried the ice cream that is very
typical in Spain.
On
the first day of class, we started with a short lesson about the preterito
indefinido, the preterito imperfecto, and the difference between the two. Then, for the commication class, we played an interactive game (solamente en Español) in order to practice our Spanish-speaking skills as well as to know a little bit more about each other. Finalmente, we learned the meaning and significance of culture, not only in Spain, but around the world.
After a rejuvenating siesta, we went on a short excursion in order to know the city better, to see where the best stores are located, and to look at some the the historical churches near the Plaza Mayor. One of the very old churches was turned into a clothing store, where many people continue to visit in order to buy clothes there. Some parts of this church were preserved. We also visited the convent of the Ursuline sisters and took many photos there.
After the excursion, we returned to the Plaza Mayor to enjoy ice cream in the hot weather, and we contintued to spend time talking to each other, in spanish of course. Since this time, anyone who speaks in english will have to pay one Euro. Nonetheless, we will continue to enjoy ourselves in the beautiful city of Salamanca, while improving our Spanish-speaking skills.
