Day 4 (Lauren)

Today was our second day of classes! After breakfast, we walked over to the university to begin our day. During the grammar class, we reviewed our homework and learned the pretérito perfecto tense. During our conversation class, we completed an activity in groups where one person had to describe a picture and the other person had to draw it. Some of the pictures turned out great, while others were a bit different than the original. In our culture class, we reviewed our homework and expanded on questions about Spain.

After a delicious lunch and a much needed siesta (nap), we met at the plaza for our tour of the cathedral and the university. We had to climb a lot of steep stairs during our tour of the cathedral, but the views were worth it! Afterwards, we toured the university, which had a wide range of interesting traditions!  For example, before their exams, students spent the night in the chapel and the next day they would take the exam there. If they passed, they would pay for a 3 day celebration. Those who received a doctoral degree (a higher degree) would write their names and a victory symbol in bull blood on the walls of the university as a way to record their degree. The tour was very interesting, and we all learned something new!
